Many of our clients in the Raleigh area have been asking the staff at Adrenaline Autosound in Clayton about adding blind spot monitoring to their vehicles. We have installed safety systems like these for clients in Rocky Mount, Fayetteville and even as far away as Charlotte. Let’s take a close look on how these camera and radar-based systems act as a second set of eyes to help prevent car accidents.
Vehicle Safety Systems
Many new vehicles come with technologies that provide us with information to help to avoid accidents. One of these systems is called Blind Spot Monitoring. These systems use cameras or short-range radar sensors to warn you about vehicles driving beside or behind our cars and trucks.
Radar-Based Blind Spot Monitoring
Systems that use object detection technologies like radar or ultrasonic sensors provide warnings with the use of a small illuminated icon on either side of the dash. We can install the warning display in your A-pillar or the sail-panel of your door in a way that makes it look like it came from the factory. When a vehicle enters the warning zone beside and behind your vehicle, the icon will illuminate. If you activate your turn-signal, the system will produce an audible alert to remind you to have a look over your shoulder before you change lanes. These systems not only detect other vehicles, but can alert you to the presence of pedestrians or other objects.
Camera-Based Blind Spot Systems
Another option is a blind spot alert system that uses cameras. We can integrate a compact camera into the bottom of your rearview mirror. This will display an image that shows what is beside your vehicle when you turn on your signal to change lanes. How we show the image inside your vehicle depends on the vehicle itself. In many cases, we can integrate with a factory infotainment system if it has a full-color display. Another option is to install a new rearview mirror with monitor on the windshield. The new mirror includes a small LCD panel to show the camera image. If neither of those options work for your application, we can install a small stand-alone monitor in a convenient location on the dash. Many of our clients choose to add a backup camera with these systems so they can see what is behind their vehicle when backing up.
Expert Installation
No matter which warning system you choose, our team of experts will install it in a way that blends perfectly with the cosmetics and styling of your vehicle. Once the installation is complete, you won’t be able to tell it apart from an option installed at the factory. All of our equipment mounting and wiring is executed to exceed the standards set by automakers. Once each system is installed, we test it before and after reassembling the vehicle to ensure it operates flawlessly.
